Wood mask, 'In Honor of Fishermen'

Juliana Akandas celebrates the customs and traditions of the Ga people with this extraordinary mask, shaped like a fish. Inhabitants of Ghana's coastal area, the Ga people are dedicated to fishing by trade; they are also renowned for their fish-smoking techniques. Arkandas carves the mask by hand of sese wood and adorns it with copper motifs.
